The Brading Wetland Project is the joint vision of IOW Eco Reserve (in which Whitgift Estates are a stakeholder) and the RSPB. The proposals that have evolved over a number of years (in collaboration with the LPA, the Environment Agency and Natural England) seek to create a natural wetland, restore the SSSI and the SPA and extend the existing RSPB nature reserve by circa 100 acres. In additions to this, a compact development of high quality eco lodges will be built, offering short/intermediate term lettings in a standard of accomodation that is in rare supply on the island. The overall plans will also deliver a brand new RSPB visitor centre and improved access and inter connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists alike, to and from the nature reserve and beyond.
Planning is expected to be acheived in April 2018.
