The purchase of the site was agreed on a subject to planning basis for a development of townhouses. An elegent block of 5 town houses was designed – Georgian influenced with a curved facade. The application fell foul of some overzealous and indescriminate protection orders being placed on low amenity value self seeded sycamore trees. A design of this quality would have been an exemplar architectural statement on the corner of one of the area’s premier roads – but the company had to withdraw it’s interest in the site due to the effect on viability the new restrictions had.
