The site was acquired unconditionally to facilitate a large scale residential-led urban regeneration development, just outside Wolverhampton City Centre. Proposals were taken to planning for 235 mixed tenure apartments, a 100 bedroom hotel with associated A3 offer along with a mix of boutique retail, small business and medical related uses. The proposals gained the full in-principle backing of the LPA but during the application phase there was a fundamental change to the emerging Black Country Plan, which meant that the site (as then designed) conflicted with its core employment aspirations for this part of the City. It is understood that an alternative strategy for the site is being implemented with a greater level of high tech business focus.
